Give me back Stylegala
Many web designers will know Stylegala, one of the most famous showcase sites.
Featured sites have always been for me an example to follow,
and being present into the gallery was synonymous of great quality.
From some time, and more just from when Stylegala has been sold,
general quality of featured sites has decreased drastically, and I’m not the only one to say this.
There are sites with chaotic layout, ugly colors, not to mention about accessibility and usability problems.
Give a glance to the last entrances in order to understand to what I refer, sites that often are below a sufficiency also for the visitors.
What has carried to a similar scene?
In my opinion new editors simply do not have the technical abilities to estimate correctly submitted sites.
If first Stylegala was an example, the top for CSS galleries, now it has lost great part of its appeal.
This case must serve for the future: to come down to compromises in order to increase the number of entries could became a boomerang.
If there is no site worthy, a gallery must limit its own activity rather than accept everything, bringing down its standards.
Still today the main problem is that often it is considered exclusively graphical aspect of a site, without looking at the validity of the code or usability and accessibility issues.
This could be one intentional, debatable, but acceptable choice, as long as a universal sensibility will not grow about this topics.
Collection of desktop wallpapers: Design is..
It’s begun all for case, from a simple wallpaper for the desktop which some others answered: Veerle, Shaun Inman, and others guru of the world-wide web design.
The important was to maintain the same topic, that is design, without other particular limitations.
Many people tries this “game” realizing more or less amusing wallpapers, until we arrived to the creation of a group on Flickr that in 5 days has succeeded in to collect 205 images with 281 participants.
This is my contribution, you can download these two background without problems: let me know your opinion!
